Friday I was in a..... foul..... mood. Lol. Many reasons. But I was still in a foul mood when I went to see Doc. He did some more of that fascia work/therapy/treatment/whatever-it-is-called. You know... The stuff that he did 3 weeks earlier that made my upper back, shoulders, and neck seize and spazz out for an hour or so (but felt wonderful later that day). He was real conservative this time to keep that from happening. Instead, I stayed in even more excruciating pain than I walked in with. Good news is that Saturday I woke up feeling much less painful.
Anyway... I was making conversation about some of the alkaline diet stuff I've been trying lately. I mentioned that not everyone in my house is so keen on my food choices as of late. Lol. I also mentioned that I have been making a crap ton of green smoothies and stuff. I told him how I tried to just come up with one on the fly and it was ok, but definitely didn't have any other fans in the house.
He then told me to try something: coconut water, bunch of strawberries, red apple, bunch of spinach, and an avocado.
He mentioned a couple brands of coconut water to look for at Whole Foods. I settled on Blue Monkey.
I've never had coconut water before so I don't know what's good or bad. I tried a sip, and it was different, but not bad. I'm not the biggest fan of coconut typically. I had to do some searching to find it though. I found the tall cans in the juice aisle and the tall box in the refrigerated drinks at Whole Foods.
I used half of the can, bunch of strawberries, a gala apple, and a bunch of spinach. I bought an avocado. I even took it out of the fridge on put it on the counter. But I just wasn't sure about that part. I know the health benefits of avocados. I also know I'm not a fan. Lol. I don't really like them. I don't even like avocado products like guacamole. So I held off on the avocado for now. I'll try it next time.
Without the avocado, this was AWESOME! I was so thrilled. Even without the avocado, there is so much good stuff in there for you. Super tasty. Now I need to go get more red apples (we always have a stash of green ones at the house) so I can make more. I had it for breakfast this morning, but it would feel great after a swim or something too. Ermahgerd!
I'm tellin' ya. You gotta try it. I don't think you'll be disappointed. :)
